Grey is definitely not a fad!
To kick-off the New Year, we are looking at the flooring trends set to take the market by storm!
When trying to give your home the look of a new house, wood flooring is a classic choice, and even with the influx of wood-look flooring options, there will always be a market for solid, hardwood and engineered wood flooring.
Now, when we say “classic”, we definitely do not mean boring!! In fact, the wood flooring trends in 2018 are anything but boring! As technology improves, wood competitors like laminate and vinyl are upping their game. Wood manufacturers have to keep things interesting, trendy and up-to-date if they want to stay in the game.
In the past, wood has set the trend and other flooring manufacturers followed suit. However, these other floors are pushing the envelope and, in response, so is wood flooring.
In 2017, colours were all about extremes. Ultra-dark, ultra-light and not much in between. Except for every shade of grey. Grey is kinda special. Grey has been the most consistent colour trend, not just for flooring, but interior design as a whole. So, for the foreseeable future, we can expect to see ‘50 Shades of Grey’ across all flooring styles from hardwood to carpet and everything in between.
Going into 2018, those extremes are still holding strong. In fact, the lights are getting even more extreme with more white-washed, beachy looks. What’s more, the light, airy blonde wood look is coming in hot! The blonde, wood look is set to be the hottest colour trend in 2018, as it is perfect for making your home look bigger and up-to-date! I guess blondes do have more fun…
Over the past decade there has been a technological revolution within the flooring industry. The world of Vinyl Flooring has changed and it is the most rapidly expanding option on the flooring market. This year you will see vinyl in more businesses and homes than ever before! But, why is there a sudden steer towards vinyl flooring? Waterproof vinyl is the driving force in vinyl flooring! Other popular contenders include luxury vinyl planks and tiles. Laminate floors are swiftly following suit with today’s wood flooring trends. It’s all about texture, imperfections and character! Laminate is replicating weathered, distressed wood and reclaimed wood and even…natural stone!
Parquet flooring has been a firm favourite over the last 18 months and set to remain high in people’s sights for 2018! This trend resurfaced a while ago after spending what can only be described as a few years in hiding. The fact is that Parquet flooring was a little dated! However, the popularity of another interior trend ‘shabby chic’ has definitely aided the resurgence of parquet floors and all their criss-cross glory. We can definitely see this geometric patterned wood flooring sticking around! What’s more, we are taking this one step further by offering this pattern in a stunning, Laminate alternative!
As you can see, there’s a lot going on in the wood flooring industry right now. There are plenty of different, unique options trending that will likely stick around for years to come, which means your possibilities are endless.
