No underlay is required for our SPC Lignum Core range as the underlay is attached to the back of the boards. For our other vinyl floors please see our underlays – Click Here

Ensure satisfactory installation
This includes levelling unevenness and creating a level installation surface so that a floating floor can be properly installed.
Protect the floor permanently
The requirements for suitable underlays are aimed at protecting the floor from daily wear and tear such as falling objects and walking, as well as shielding the floor from rising residual building moisture or damp.
Improve the properties of the floor
In addition to the reduction of impact sound and walking noise, the underlay also influences heat insulation and walking comfort.
For underfloor heating we would advise you to use our QuickTransfer 2mm or our Sonic Red 3mm underlay. Note that all of our underlays can be used with underfloor heating.
Laminate flooring is made of 80% natural products, and mostly consists of wood – one of our planet’s sustainable and renewable raw materials, making laminate flooring a product, which is light on resources and even recyclable. And that’s not all. Laminate flooring has a firm, sealed surface which ensures that dust and dirt cannot penetrate. This is what makes laminate floors hygienic and easy to care for – which can bring important benefits to allergy sufferers.
This is the most important layer and is extremely scratch resistant. It gives the vital protection a laminate floor needs. The surface durability is measured by the Abrasion Class (AC) Rating.
AC3 = Heavy Domestic/Light Commercial
AC4= Heavy Domestic/Moderate Commercial
AC5 = Heavy Domestic/Heavy Commercial
AC6= Heavy Domestic/Heavy Commercial+

Carpets do not form a suitable base because the pile layer in the carpet gives way excessively under load. The joints in click systems can be subjected to extreme loads.
If the tile surface is suitably even and meets the requirements for laminate flooring then it can be possible. However, any unevenness or variations in height in the tile surface can be evened out with an insulation mat. Contact us if you require more information.

Yes, Engineered Wood Flooring is suitable for use with underfloor heating, but we advise that the surface temperature of the subfloor does not exceed 27 degrees celsius. We also recommend using our Lignum Additions Quick Transfer underlay when fitting engineered floors on underfloor heating. If the application is stuck down, please use our Lignum Additions Stauf Adhesive.

Engineered hardwood floors can be glued or nailed into position, but they also have the option of being floated over an underlay. To stick down is to adhere the wood floor directly to the sub floor using Lignum Additions Stauf Adhesive. This method is only suitable for engineered and solid wood flooring.
For nailing engineered flooring, the floor must be over 18mm in thickness in order to be structurally stable. It can be installed on joints, timber sheeting or on battens. You may also sheet on top of a concrete floor to create a levels surface for your engineered floor.
